The two companions of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo were arrested and detained in Indonesia, according to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr., citing a report from Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Marbil.
“I received a report last night from the Chief PNP that two of [her] companions are already detained in Indonesia,” Abalos said in an ambush interview on Thursday.
The report identified Cassandra Li Ong and the mayor’s sister, Shiela Guo, as the ones being held in detention. They were arrested by Indonesian immigration authorities on Wednesday.
Guo, together with her companions and family members reportedly fled the Philippines via a backdoor exit and went to Malaysia. They also traveled to Indonesia and Singapore last July based on the report presented by Senator Risa Hontiveros.
The former mayor allegedly plans to travel China to reunite with her family and evade pressing charges in the Philippines. Guo is linked to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), among other administrative and criminal charges.
