The Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) of the Philippine Army marked its 62 nd founding anniversary with Army chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido as guest of honor and speaker in simple ceremony held at the unit’s headquarters in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija last Tuesday.

In his remarks, Galido emphasized that warfare nowadays “is very different from the warfare we got used to and that modern warfare is asymmetric.”

“Therefore, the Army must think differently,” he stressed.

“When we talk about relevance, the Special Forces is top of mind. The three spears in the SF logo mean that SF can conduct missions on land, air, and sea. As part of the comprehensive archipelagic defense concept, we are expected to be an army that can defend on the maritime, air, and various domains,” he added.

Brig. Gen. Ferdinand Napuli, Army Regiment commander, said he was committed to “directing the future of the unit to maintain the high standards expected from the Special Forces and will continuously work towards an always ready, capable, and constantly evolving special forces now and in the years to come.”
