House leaders hope for better collaboration under Senate President Escudero

House Assistant Majority Leaders Jay Khonghun of Zambales and Francisco Paolo Ortega of La Union have expressed optimism  that Sen. Francis Escudero’s election as the new Senate President will be the start of a “new era” marked by better collaboration between the two chambers.

“Senate President Chiz Escudero brings invaluable experience and leadership to the Senate… We look forward to a strong partnership between the Senate and the House to advance legislation that benefits the Filipino people,” Khonghun said.

He specifically highlighted Escudero’s “pragmatic approach and dedication to public service.”

Ortega likewise said that Escudero’s election is a positive development for both chambers of Congress.

“This marks a new chapter for the Senate, one where cooperation and effective governance can thrive… It signals a new era of collaboration and synergy between our legislative bodies,” Ortega said.

Both Ortega and Khonghun expressed their eagerness to collaborate with Escudero in addressing crucial issues such as education, healthcare, inflation, and economic constitutional amendments.

“I have high hopes the new Senate leadership will pave the way for constructive dialogue and effective solutions to our nation’s most pressing challenges. We look forward to working closely with Senate President Escudero to enact meaningful reforms that benefit all Filipinos,” Khonghun said.
