Greenbelt 1—the iconic mall in Makati City—will be closed and demolished in April to pave the way for its redevelopment.
Ayala Malls vice president AC Legarda said the mall, designed by national artist for architecture Leandro Locsin, will be closed by April and will reopen by 2028.”

“Greenbelt 1 was co-developed with national artist Locsin… We will integrate aspects of old Greenbelt 1,” Legarda said.
Greenbelt 1 is Ayala’s oldest mall, having been built in the 1970s.
Greenbelt 1 is one of four Ayala flagship malls that will undergo renovation, along with Glorietta, Trinoma, and Ayala Center Cebu.
