The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it will look into the case of Benigno “Iggy” Agbayani Jr., the orthopedic surgeon who died while in detention in October.
“We will check what happened. We can’t just say that this is what we will do. We will review it and based on the results, we may create new instructions or new rules so the same situation will not happen again,” Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo said, in a media briefing.
When asked what he meant, Gesmundo hinted out that that there may have been some lapses committed by the lawyer. “Apparently, there was, I don’t know, there were some lapses committed by the lawyer. I think that’s the main- the root cause of the issues that came out,” Gesmundo said.
