The interior and local government minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has resigned from office effective Dec. 6.
The Office of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim promptly issued a Special Order to lawyer Shah Ilijah Dumama-Alba to assume the post vacated by Naguib Sinarimbo.
Sinarimbo was Ebrahim’s first appointee to the interior and local government portfolio of the Bangsamoro government in February 2019.
He has been international peace consultant for the United Nations Development Program, a position he had held concurrently.
“Just to make it official. I have resigned as the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government effective closing hours yesterday, December 6, 2023,” Sinarimbo wrote on his Facebook account.
“I am confident that we have built a solid bureaucracy in the Ministry with competent and dedicated public servants…I step into the world of civilian life with a renewed sense of freedom,” he added.
