NHA leads cash aid efforts for Cebu typhoon victims

The National Housing Authority (NHA) on Friday spearheaded the distribution of cash aid to 2,000 families whose houses were damaged by typhoon “Odette” in December in Cebu.

NHA general manager Joeben Tai led the cash grant distribution to 1,000 families from Lapu-Lapu City, 559 from Carcar City, and 441 from Naga City.

Each family beneficiary received P10,000 under the agency’s Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) providing quick response cash assistance to qualified low-income and marginalized families affected by natural or man-made calamities.

EHAP is one of Tai’s priorities. Since Aug. 1, the NHA was able to distribute P2.419 billion in EHAP funds.

Tai gave the assurance that financial assistance would reach the calamity victims, saying “we want to let our fellow countrymen that we will make on our promise to help them. We will not forget you.”

Meanwhile, the NHA chief has conducted project inspections with NHA itself, consultation dialogues with beneficiaries, and coordination with local government units for future housing development projects.
