The Public Attorney’s Office on Monday announced its recruitment of 225 new lawyers, promotion of 19 staff and regularization of 36 lawyers.
Chief Persida Acosta said “the official oath-taking will take place on Wednesday.”
“Under Republic Act 9406, the appointing authority of all public lawyers is PAO,” she said.
She urged the PAO lawyers to be God-fearing. She said a public servant has now a monthly basic income of over P100,000.
“Gone are the days when you would no longer wear socks with holes, and when you would ride a tricycle and (public utility) jeep even if you have a heavy workload of cases,” she cited.
“Don’t think of the quantity of cases,” she said.
