Seventeen complaints that involve alleged vote-buying and selling are set to undergo preliminary investigations, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Acting Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said Friday the verified complaint-affidavits passed through the Law Department.

“The prescription period for election offenses is five years from the date of commission so complaints can still be filed,” he said in a statement.

All but one of the cases for preliminary investigation will be conducted in field offices so as not to inconvenience parties while one will be at the Law Department at the Intramuros, Manila central office, Laudiangco said.

Vote-buying concerns in the May 9 polls have reached 113 as of June 23.
