DPWH resumes weekend road works on EDSA, C5

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has allowed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to resume its weekend road works along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and other major thoroughfares in Metro Manila.

The DPWH-National Capital Region started the road reblocking and repair works on EDSA, Circumferential Road-5 (C-5 Road), and other areas in Quezon City late Friday night.

The rehabilitation activities covered the southbound directions of EDSA-Santolan innermost lane/bus way, from V.V. Soliven Driveway going to Rochester Street in San Juan City; and the EDSA Service Road, 2nd block of Timog Avenue intersection, 2nd block of Kamuning Road intersection, and 2nd block corner Kamuning Road in Quezon City.

Affected lanes on EDSA Quezon City northbound include the 2nd lane from sidewalk/ bus way, fronting Cubao Farmers Market and after Kamuning intermittent section along Aurora Boulevard.

Similar road works are being conducted on the following areas in Quezon City: Tandang Sora Avenue, from Visayas Avenue to San Miguel Road; Times Street corner West Avenue, fronting Kowloon House; Commonwealth Avenue, from Zuzuareggui Street to fronting Diliman Preparatory School, 1st lane from sidewalk; and C.P. Garcia Avenue, fronting UP Ayala TBI, 1st block from sidewalk.

Portions of C-5 in Makati City and Pasig City were also closed, including the northbound 1st lane after Mckinley Road and southbound 2nd lane in Makati, and southbound lane along Pasig Boulevard, in front of Botikang Pinoy, and westbound lane along Doña Julia Vargas Avenue, near Sitel Philippines in Pasig.

Motorists are advised to expect traffic slowdowns and to take possible alternate routes until road sections are reopened to traffic by 5 a.m. Monday (June 6).
