As expected, the Bicolanos vigorously rallied behind the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo who hails from the region.
Local organizers said some 40,000 people assembled for a grand rally on Friday along Magsaysay street in Sorsogon City.
Robredo later proceeded to Legazpi City in Albay where she was welcomed by an estimated crowd of over 100,000.
Later in the day in her home city of Naga, rally organizers said over 306,000 individuals flocked to Magsaysay Avenue and its adjacent streets for Robredo’s “miting de avance.”
“Nagpapasalamat po ako na kahit mahirap ang laban na ito, andiyan kayo sa tabi ko, kasama ko kayo sa laban. Kaya maraming salamat sa into. Marami tayong pinagdaanang hamon,” Robredo said.
“Kilala ninyo ako, alam ninyo kung anong klaseng pamamahala ang aking isinusulong. Alam ninyo kung anong klase pulitika ang aking pinaniniwalaan. Pag nagsabi akong ayoko sa korapsyon, alam ninyong ni minsan hindi nadawit ang pangalan ko sa anumang anomalya,” she added.
Robredo said she was not anxious because she knew she gave it all. She also urged her supporters not to be anxious and just keep the faith.
“Magtiwala lang, magtiwala lang kasi hindi lang ako ang nagsipag, sila din. Hindi lang naman ako ang ginawa ang lahat pero sila din (Keep the faith, keep the faith because I was not the only one who worked hard, they also did. I was not the only one who did everything, they also did),” Robredo said in an interview, following the grand rally in Sorsogon City.
“Hindi ako kinakabahan, kasi ginawa ko naman ang lahat, ako na yata ang pinakamasipag (I am not anxious, because I did everything, I think I am the most diligent),” she added.
