The government stands to save billions of pesos with the full disclosure policy of Vice President Leni Robredo if she wins the presidency.

These billions of pesos, Trillanes noted, are lost to corruption. Due to this, Trillanes said he is supporting Robredo’s plan to implement a “full disclosure policy” that will make public all transactions, contracts, and procurements.

“I firmly believe that only VP Leni has the character and political will to implement this policy to the fullest,” said who is seeking a senate comeback under the Leni-Kiko tandem.

Trillanes described Robredo’s full disclosure policy as an “effective way to curb and deter corruption in government offices.” He said this is very similar to his proposal to livestream all public biddings which he believes is a strong deterrent to corruption.

He said the video recording can also be used in administrative and criminal proceedings against corrupt officials.

During the last presidential debates, Robredo said her first Executive Order if elected president is to implement a policy on transparent governance. She will require all government offices and instrumentalities to make public all their transactions, all the contracts, all the procurements.

Data in 2019 showed that the government might have lost about P1.4 trillion due to corruption in the preceding two years, or equivalent to at least 20 percent of the country’s annual budget.

Trillanes said it could have been used to construct 1.4 million housing units for the poor. The amount could have also been used to provide medical or educational assistance for at least seven million Filipinos.

He assured Robredo can accomplish many things from these lost funds.
