The Department of Public Works and Highways – National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) topped the March 2022 physical accomplishments in infrastructure projects with an overall rating of 11.70 percent, outperforming 15 other regions for the first time over the past years.

DPWH assistant regional director Juby Cordon cited efforts of the monitoring engineers and project engineers who even worked overtime as one of the reasons for the improved performance of the NCR.

DPWH-NCR director Nomer Abel Canlas said despite the challenges amid the coronavirus pandemic, his engineering offices were able to achieve an overall absorptive capacity of 94.89 percent after obligating a total of P44.3 billion, and a prior year disbursement rate of 83.13 percent from disbursing a total of P46.6 billion.

“2021 is a year of many milestones for the DPWH-NCR. We were able to implement vital infrastructure projects and programs that are responsive to the special needs of the region with one of the biggest populations,” Canlas said.

Canlas narrated that the challenges started even on his first day in office, but concentrated management intervention to its core.

DPWH Secretary Roger  Mercado  vowed to fully  support the DPWH-NCR environmental advocacy for a clean and green Metro Manila.
