Vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Saturday wooed the votes of Pasiguenos and thanked Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Rep. Roman Romulo for welcoming her team.

Duterte-Carpio interacted with officers of the city’s Parents-Teachers Associations (PTA) and Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA).

She chatted with stallholders and vendors at the public market and ate favorite halo-halo at one of the stalls in the market’s food court.
Duterte-Carpio expressed gratitude to Sotto, whose uncle, Senate President Vicente Sotto III, is also running for vice president.

She was accompanied in Pasig by UniTeam senatorial bet Win Gatchalian.

Duterte-Carpio and her standard-bearer, former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr, are scoring high voter preference ratings in Metro Manila as well as the rest of the country. In Pulse Asia’s February survey, Marcos had 66 percent in the National Capital Region (NCR), 58 percent in Balance of Luzon, 53 percent in Visayas, and 68 percent in Mindanao.

Duterte-Carpio scored 48 percent in NCR, 41 percent in Balance of Luzon, 51 percent in Visayas, and a remarkable 82 percent in Mindanao, the Dutertes’ bailiwick.

Overall, Marcos was preferred by 60 percent, while Duterte-Carpio was picked by 53 percent.

Their voter preference numbers prompted House Majority Leader and Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats President Martin Romualdez to predict that the UniTeam candidates were headed for a landslide victory.

Based on these numbers, Marcos and Duterte-Carpio would be the first presidential and vice presidential aspirants in the country’s recent history who could win by a majority vote, instead of a mere plurality, Romualdez, campaign manager of Duterte-Carpio, said.
