Ang Probinsyano party-list Representative Alfred Delos Santos has called on the government to increase the fuel subsidy extended to farmers and fisherfolks amid the spiraling prices of oil and petroleum products.
“We presented a proposal for higher fuel subsidy for farmers and fisherfolks as one of the short-term measures in the Special Meeting of the Congress for the Fuel Crisis,” said Delos Santos, whose party-list group is seeking reelection in the May 9 polls.
“Aside from diminishing the income of our farmers and fisherfolks, the successive oil price hike affected the market prices of our basic commodities. We will make sure that financial assistance will continuously be given, not only to our PUV drivers, but to our farmers and fisherfolks as well. Number 50, Ang Probinsyano party-list, will constantly be lobbying for inclusive solutions to the fuel crisis,” he added.
Even amid the pandemic, the party-list has been active in pushing for projects that would directly benefit communities, such as the formal groundbreaking ceremony for a multi-purpose building in Sitio Longoyon in Tuburan, Cebu, which is a flood-prone area.
According to Mayor Danilo Diamante: “Everytime there’s a typhoon, a strong rain, it passes by Tuburan. Each time we’re struck with a calamity, Ang Probinsyano party-list was quick to respond.”
“The evacuation center will be very useful. A lot of people will benefit from the multi-purpose building that Number 50, Ang Probinsyano party-list, initiated for the province,” Diamante added.
“As long as Ang Probinsyano party-list is in Congress, we will continuously work for the rural development of Tuburan,” said third nominee Mike Chua, who appealed to the people not to get confused on May 9 as there are two “probinsyanos” in the ballot.
Aside from the multi-purpose building, construction has also started on a 1.5-kilometer road in the same area, Sitio Langoyon.
