Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Authority Secretary Eduardo del Rosario as Task Force Bangon Marawi chairperson on Thursday turned over more than 200 permanent shelters to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and inaugurated public infrastructure “as the massive government-led rehabilitation is heading into the homestretch.”

He, along with Stean Tshiband, a representative of the United Nations Resident Coordinator; Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra and TFBM field office manager Assistant Secretary Felix Castro Jr., spearheaded the awarding of the permanent subdivision-like housing in Barangay Gadongan.

“This is another solid proof of our commitment to bring back better Marawi and more resilient Maranaws. New homes, fresh starts for our brother and sister Maranaws,” he said.

“This is also in pursuit of our principle considering shelter as a right of every Filipino family and it is our responsibility to capacitate them, especially the underprivileged and in this case the IDPs, to have access to decent housing in resilient and sustainable communities,” he added.

“We remain on track to complete the rehabilitation by about 95 percent this June and will finish all the remaining projects by December this year. With your hard work, we can do it,” he further stated.
