Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Tuesday stressed equal law enforcement on Filipinos is key in the fight to eradicate criminality and illegal drugs in the Philippines.

During an ambush interview in Batangas City, the presidential daughter was asked how she intended to take on the problems of crime and the illegal drug menace should she become victorious on May 9.

“We will go in what President Duterte started, the crime rate went down during his administration, and we will replicate Davao City’s mechanisms in its anti-criminality campaign,” Duterte-Carpio told reporters at the Batangas Livelihood Center after the meet-and-greet with local leaders and supporters led by Batangas Gov. Hermilando Mandanas, a stalwart of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

Mandanas has declared his support for Mayor Duterte-Carpios’s vice presidential bid.

The President’s daughter has repeatedly said that she wants to continue her father’s legacy in the campaign against illegal drugs and criminality.

Duterte was in Batangas for her Mahalin Natin ang Pilipinas Ride (MNPR) – a caravan aimed at delivering her message of hope, patriotism and unity among Filipinos.

“That is the reason why Davao City is awarded one of the best city police offices because they fully know how to handle it, particularly [matters] against anti-criminality,” she said.

This is not the first time that Duterte-Carpio espoused the notion of equality during her vice presidential bid.

During the BBM-Sara UniTeam’s campaign kickoff on February 8 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, she said: “In my years of public service,
I adopted what I have learned from my parents, that where law enforcement is concerned, we are all equal.”

Duterte-Carpio is the running mate of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer, former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
