Presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, were the top choices in the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey commissioned by the Stratbase ADR Institute.

The commissioned survey, conducted from January 28 to 31, showed Marcos enjoying a wide lead over other candidates with a 50 percent voter preference.

Vice President Leni Robredo followed with 19 percent, while both Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Senator Manny Pacquiao were tied for the third spot with 11 percent each.

Senator Panfilo Lacson got 6 percent while labor leader Leody De Guzman garnered 0.3 percent.

In a Pulse Asia survey conducted last month, Marcos posted a majority rating of 60 percent, followed by Robredo at 16 percent, Domagoso and Pacquiao with 8 percent each, and Lacson with 4 percent.

For the vice presidential race, Duterte-Carpio topped the survey with 44 percent, followed by Senate President Vicente Sotto III with 33 percent and Senator Francis Pangilinan with 10 percent.

Dr. Willie Ong ranked fourth with 7 percent, while Rep. Lito Atienza got 2 percent.

For Stratbase president Dindo Manhit, however, it is not unlikely that the ranking may still change as there is still a big chunk of the voters—20 percent—who remain undecided.

“The surveys are telling us what are the preferences at that moment, so it can change,” Manhit said.

“There’s no linear way to victory in the 2022 elections…It could be a landslide for Marcos on May 9, or a tight race where we will simply
have somebody at a little over 30 percent winning the presidency” he added.
