Contrary to the result of the recent Pulse Asia poll, former senator Antonio Trillanes said presidential candidate and Vice President Leni Robredo actually gained ground in the January internal survey conducted by the Magdalo Group.

According to the Pulse Asia survey conducted last January 19 to 24, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. got 60 percent to the 16 percent for Robredo.

Trillanes. however, said the flawed methodology of the Pulse Asia poll was exposed after the Magdalo January survey showed Robredo had gained six points to 22 percent, from 16 percent in November 2021.

Based on the same Magdalo survey, Marcos lost six points during a two-month span, from 59 percent to 53 percent.

“Pulse Asia has a dismal track record and they are being used as a propaganda tool. Their methodology is flawed,” said Trillanes, adding that the survey was not conducted in real-time.

“Another thing is that the survey happened a month ago, which intervening events have already transpired. One month is a very long time in campaign politics,” he added.

Pulse Asia had yet to react to the former senator’s statement as of posting time.

Trillanes also questioned how Pulse Asia managed to conduct its survey while the country was at the height of the Omicron COVID-19 surge.

“We are questioning if they indeed conducted an in-person survey or only by means of phone call interview,” he stressed.

Trillanes also pointed out that the energy of the supporters on the ground, as shown by the number of people attending the recent sorties of Robredo, also contradicted the Pulse Asia survey results.

“Let us not be easily fooled by surveys so that we will not be misled on what the real situation is,” said Trillanes.
