The long wait is over. The musical film “Yorme—The Isko Moreno Domagoso Story” can now be viewed online starting Friday on Vivamax Plus and other digital video platforms such as KTX PH, Upstream, iWant TFC and TFC IPTV.

The worldwide streaming of “Yorme” started midnight of Jan. 21 and is expected to run for the next seven days.

“Yorme” is an inspiring story of Mayor Isko’s rising from lowly beginnings and dreaming to have a better life. It was produced by Saranggola

Media and Viva Films under the direction of veteran film maker Joven Tan.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health has lauded Domagoso for the city of Manila’s “innovative approach” to help the national government in its battle against COVID-19 since the pandemic broke out two years ago.

Speaking at the launch of “Resbakuna sa mga Botika” at the Mercury Drug Drive-Thru Branch along Quirino Avenue in Manila on Thursday, Health Secretary Francisco Duque said Moreno has set the bar high in terms of leadership and governance through various programs designed to address the public health crisis.

The film revolves on Moreno’s life as a poor boy born in the slums of Tondo, Manila from a stevedore father who came from Antique province and a labandera mother who came from Leyte province.

Earning a living as a lowly basurero, Moreno’s luck had a turn-around after being discovered for showbusiness while playing cards in the wake of a neighbor in Tondo. From being an actor, he became a city councilor of Manila at 23 years of age, became vice mayor and later on mayor at the age of 44.

The movie is star-studded with former teen-age actors who were fellow regulars of Mayor Isko in ‘That’s Entertainment’ of master showman German Moreno, who was superbly played by veteran singer and actor Janno Gibbs.

Starring Raikko Mateo, who played the young Isko, McCoy de Leon as the teenage Isko, and Xian Lim as the adult Moreno, ‘Yorme” is an inspiring film that drives the message that any person can go to great lengths in life if one works very hard to achieve his dreams and aspirations in life.

During the movie press conference held on Nov. 28, 2021, Moreno said the movie was meant to be a vehicle to inspire other poor youngsters that despite the hardships they are experiencing in life, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Moreno had said that if he, a former basurero (garbage man), was able to succeed in life and even become the mayor of the nation’s capital, they too can achieve great things in life for as long as they work hard and trust in God.

During the press conference, the 47-year old presidential aspirant also took the opportunity to thank ‘Direk’ Joven Tan for not only directing the movie, but also writing the script and composing the 15 songs used in the film.

Moreno said he is hopeful that the movie, which mirrors his struggles as a poor boy living in Tondo with his parents, will serve as an inspiration to others that they too can overcome hardships in life.

“I hope the movie will provide inspiration sa mga tao. Through visual work makikita ng tao ang struggle ng isang tao, ng isang bata. Through hardships, we can overcome,” he said.

Duque said: “He is a good example that I think our other local chief executives throughout the Philippines deserve to follow because he showed how the lives of Manilans have improved. He is full of innovative approaches on how to fight the pandemic and how to improve the assistance and implementation of programs especially in health.”

The Health Secretary also commended Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and the rest of the staff of the Manila city government.

Duque was referring to the City of Manila’s aggressive vaccination campaign with the use of drive-thru booster sites for motorcycle riders at the Kartilya ng Katipunan; 4-wheel vehicles at the Quirino Grandstand and drive-thru for drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) and delivery vans at the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila.

Moreno has also recently opened the Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden in Malate as vaccination site for minors aged 12-17 and senior citizens with the added purpose of having them take a sneak peek of the redeveloped zoo.

The 47-year-old presidential aspirant also announced that he is open to using the Manila Bay Walk Dolomite Beach as another possible vaccination site for those going to the new tourist attraction.

Duque also commended Moreno for having the foresight to procure and stockpile anti-Covid 19 medicines including Molnupiravir for mild and moderate symptoms and Remdesivir, Tocilizumab and Baricitinib for patients having symptoms that are severe to critical.

For his part, Moreno thanked Duque and the Duterte administration for the support they have extended to the city government to fight the pandemic, like providing vaccine supplies that has allowed Manila to expand its inoculation drive even to non-residents of Manila.

“I am grateful to President Duterte and our DOH family under the leadership of Secretary Duque because ‘we cannot do everything without their support. The same goes for our private sectors who have joined our desire to vaccinate many of our countrymen,” the 47-year-old presidential aspirant said.
