Vice President Leni Robredo wants to defeat ex-senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., instead of seeing him being disqualified in the presidential race in May 2022.
To defeat Marcos Jr. in the presidential race would end his “narrative” of election fraud in the vice presidential race in 2016, she said.
“I do not like to comment on the disqualification case (against him) but if you were to ask me, I would rather want that we defeat him in the election to put an end (to everything),” she told an interview over CNN Philippines.
“We really need to defeat him in the upcoming elections so that once and for all, we could stop the narrative that he has been pushing,” she said.
She said Marcos Jr. has repeatedly claimed on social media that he won in the 2016 polls, and that “I cheated him.”
The Commission on Elections is set to come up with a decision on the disqualification cases filed against Marcos on or before Jan. 17.
