UniTeam visits more areas, continues aid, relief mission

UniTeam presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte on Thursday continued with their mission of bringing hope and extending assistance to the victims of Typhoon Odette, as they visited Dinagat Islands, Palawan, Liloan, and Lapu-Lapu City just before the year ends.

The UniTeam tandem first went to Dinagat Islands where they were welcomed by Lone District Congressman Alan Ecleo together with his officials.

The typhoon-hit island received 2,500 sacks of rice, thousands of pairs of slippers, and 10 sets of bucket water filters that can provide clean water to the affected communities.

A P1-million financial aid for the constituents of Dinagat Island was also given to Congressman Ecleo and another P1-million for Governor Arlene ‘Kaka’ Bag-ao that was personally received by provincial administrator Dr. Aimee Jimeno.

The BBM- Sara tandem next visited Puerto Princesa, Palawan, and were welcomed by Governor Jose Alvarez and seven mayors of the province. Bongbong and Sara were also given a disaster situational report by Gov. Alvarez.

Governor Alvarez received P3 million in financial aid from the UniTeam as well as 3,000 sacks of rice and thousands of slippers that will be given to the affected families. The duo then proceeded to visit the municipalities of Liloan and Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu.

The municipality of Liloan under Mayor Cristina Frasco received financial assistance of P1 million including 3,000 sacks of rice and more than a thousand pairs of slippers from the BBM-Sara UniTeam.

Meanwhile, Lapu-Lapu City received 2,000 sacks of rice, and a set of Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration with a pressure supply unit that they can use for them to have clean drinking water.

Lapu-Lapu lone district Congressman Paz Radaza also received P1 million in financial aid for her constituents.

As BBM- Sara UniTeam continues to extend more aid by January, Bongbong will also look into the possibility of providing maintenance medicine for the senior citizens in affected areas as he starts to seek help from his friends in the private sector.

Marcos Jr. Bongbong clarified that the help being extended by the BBM- Sara UniTeam is an additional support they provide to the areas and provinces that have yet to receive assistance from the government.

The tandem also delivered a message of hope to all the victims to remain steadfast and work together in unity to overcome the difficulties brought by typhoon Odette.

The BBM-Sara UniTeam on Thursday completed the second phase of its Humanitarian and Relief Mission, delivering a total of P28.6 million in financial assistance and P48.3 million worth of relief goods for typhoon victims in 11 provinces since December 19. 

In addition, the UniTeam also delivered P1 million worth of construction materials for the repair of shattered houses, several thousands bags of rice for distribution to calamity victims, a portable solar panel system, 11 units of bucket water filter system, 77 solar flashlights with chargers, 40 sacks of slippers and other vital items.

Within the two-day period (December 19 and 20), P15 million worth of financial assistance and P23.3 million worth of relief items were delivered to the calamity victims.
