Duterte to visit wake of soldiers killed in clash with NPAs

President Rodrigo Duterte is set to visit on Friday afternoon the wake of two soldiers killed in a battle with New People’s Army (NPA) in Davao City.

The fatalities were identified as Corporal Michael Yadao and Private Virnel Damondon.

Their remains lie in state at the Gymnasium of Panacan, Davao City.

Yadao and Damondon died when they were hit by a landmine as they were pursuing NPAs in Barangay Lamanan, Calinan District on Thursday.

11 other troopers were wounded.

The NPA reportedly sustained 3 fatalities during the encounter.
