Aguirre gets the Commission on Appointment’s nod

The Commission on Appointments (CA) has confirmed the appointment of Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre to the Department of Justice.

This comes, amid Senator Antonio Trillanes’ opposition to Aguirre’s confirmation.

Prior to the plenary’s action, the CA’s Committee on Justice held an executive session to discuss Trillanes’ motion to suspend the confirmation.

When the CA resumed its hearing, Senator Loren Legarda moved to conduct a vote on Senator Panfilo Lacson’s endorsement of Aguirre’s appointment.

After the hearing, Aguirre said he was happy with the outcome.

He admitted he had some sleepless nights thinking about his fate in the hands of the powerful commission.
