NPA ends ceasefire with government

The New People’s Army (NPA) has terminated its unilateral ceasefire with government.

This was announced by the communist rebels in a statement from NPA Spokesperson ‘Ka Oris.’

The statement reads, “the August 28, 2016 unilateral declaration of interim ceasefire issued by the Central Committee of the CPP (CPP-CC) and the National Operations Command of the New People’s Army (NPA-NOC) is hereby terminated.”

It also said, the negotiating panel of the National Democratic Front will notify government negotiators about this development.

The lifting of the ceasefire will take effect at 11:59 pm of February 10, 2017 or on Friday next week.
