Albayalde: PNP 100% ready for Miss Universe pageant

The Philippine National Police-National Capital Region Office (PNP-NCRPO) and the Department of Tourism have expressed full readiness for the holding of Miss Universe pageant on Monday morning (January 30).

In a press briefing on Friday morning, PNP-NCRPO Director Oscar Albayalde reported, “the preparations for the security of Miss Universe are in place. We are 100 percent prepared.”

He said, candidates will be at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena as early as 3 am for the coronation day that will begin at 8 am.

He expects the number of guests in the audience to reach 15,000.

“Most of them are VIPs,” noted Albayalde.

Albayalde also said, “we have 5 X-ray machines spread across the Arena. Para kang papasok sa airport (it’s like you are entering an airport).”

He added there will be no traffic rerouting in the area.

Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo is asking people to arrive at the venue as early as 5:30 am because security checks will be very strict and thorough.

Dress rehearsal for candidates in the tilt will be held on Sunday (January 29).
