Nazarene procession moving faster compared to past years

The carriage of the Black Nazarene has passed through Arlegui Street in Manila as of 6 pm on Monday.

It is now heading towards the San Sebastian Church.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel’s image will be displayed on window of the church when the Black Nazarene passes by.

Observers say, the procession is moving faster compared to the previous years.

By 9 pm to 10 pm, the image of the Nazarene is expected to be in Quiapo area.

The procession is now on its 13th hour since it left Quirino Grandstand at about 5:30 am.

During the past years, the event lasted from 18 to 20 hours.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) reports, it has given assistance to over a thousand barefoot devotees.

At least 8 were brought to nearby hospitals.

PRC treated on the spot over 300 persons who sustained minor injuries.

Most of those who sought medical help were suffering from nausea, chest and abdominal pains.
