Coast Guard clashes with suspected pirates in Zamboanga

A shooting incident occurred between the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel and suspected pirates off the waters of Zamboanga on Tuesday.

This comes, following the attempt of the suspected pirates to commandeer a cargo vessel that was travelling from Zamboanga to Davao.

The PCG has identified the vessel as Ocean Kingdom.

PCG Commander Armando Balilo says, the crewmembers of Ocean Kingdom sought the help of the Coast Guard.

The clash ensued and the pirates failed to take control of the vessel, due to the intervention of the PCG.
