Storm signal number 1 up in 4 provinces

PAGASA has raised severe tropical storm signal number 1 in four areas.

These are Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Northern Samar and Eastern Samar.

As of 5 pm Friday, severe tropical storm “Nina” is located 700 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar.

It carries maximum sustained winds of up to 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 130 kph.

“Nina” is travelling west northwest at 20 kph.

PAGASA says, the storm may develop into a typhoon within 24 hours.

It is expected to make landfall in Bicol on Sunday (Christmas day) afternoon or evening.
