Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has distributed crisp peso bills bearing President Rodrigo Duterte’s signature.

This was announced by BSP Deputy Governor Diwa Gunigundo in a press conference on Tuesday morning.

Gunigundo says, banks can now avail of these new bills, which have been delivered to BSP’s regional offices nationwide.

BSP is initially releasing five million pieces for each of P 20, P 50, P 100, P 500 and P 1,000 bills.

Two million pieces of bills with Duterte’s signature are issued for P 200 bills, which have less demand compared to the other bills.

The total amount for the first batch of new bills is P 8.75-billion.

BSP also reminds the public that old banknotes issued in 1985 will already be demonitized beginning on the first day of 2017.
