New Coast Guard vessel arrives from Japan

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) gets a new multi-role response vessel (MRRV) from Japan.

PCG Spokesman Armand Balilo reports, BRP Malabrigo has arrived.

The boat will help the PCG in patrolling the disputed South China Sea and it was acquired with the help of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

10 more Coast Guard ships are due to arrive next year.

The delivery of the fleet was discussed during the meeting between President Rodrigo Duterte and Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida in Davao City last August.
