It was not just Vice President Leni Robredo who received an instruction from Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. to stop attending cabinet meetings.

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Patricia Licuanan got the same text message from Evasco.

She said, “on Sunday, December 4, 2016, I received a text message from Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. relaying President Rodrigo Duterte’s instructions to stop attending cabinet meetings starting Monday, December 5, 2016 at 2 pm.”

In response, Licuanan said, she will just continue her work as CHED head.

Former President Benigno Aquino appointed Licuanan at CHED in July 2010 for a four-year term.

She was re-appointed in 2014.

Licuanan’s term will end in 2018.

In June this year, the CHED Chairperson revealed she had talked with President Duterte.

“He has said, he will respect may term and for me to continue doing my job. I take that to mean that I will stay in office until 2018,” she said six months ago.
