De Lima to get copies of charges vs. her from DOJ

Senator Leila De Lima intends to simply send a representative to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to secure copies of the four criminal complaints filed against her.

The senator says, the DOJ does not ask her to personally appear before a hearing.

“Its not really the preliminary investigation yet as I understand it because the subpoena I received was just to obtain copies of the complaint and supporting evidence,” she said.

De Lima will just send a representative to the DOJ to get the documents.

These include the criminal cases filed against the senator by New Bilibid Prison (NBP) inmate Jaybee Sebastian, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) and former NBI Deputy Directors Ruel Lasala and Reynaldo Esmeralda.

De Lima spoke at a forum at the UP College of Law on Friday morning.

In her speech, she lambasted the Duterte administration’s campaign against drugs and alleged extrajudicial killings.
