Dela Rosa: Espinosa cleared Espenido of drug link

PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa reports suspected drug lord Kerwin Espinosa has cleared Albuera, Leyte Head of Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido of any involvement in drug trade.

Dela Rosa says, he has talked with Espinosa, who is currently in the custody of the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Group.

The PNP Chief adds, he has not placed Espinosa under restrictive custody.

“Wala akong restrictive action sa kanya. Under custody sya, lalo na ngayon, binawi nya ang sinabi nya [kay Espenido], talaga raw malinis at ayaw magpa-corrupt. Kaya naniniwala ako sa kanya (I have no restrictive action on him [Espinosa]. He is under custody, especially now when he has withdrawn what he said. He is really clean and incorruptible [referring to what Espinosa supposedly said about Espenido]. I believe him.”

During the hearing of the House Committee on Justice last week, Espinosa had named Espenido as among those who were allegedly receiving protection money.

This was the reason why Dela Rosa cried during the inquiry, saying that he did not know who to trust anymore.
