DOJ: De Lima’s confession bolsters cases against her

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre says, Senator Leila De Lima’s admission that she had a relationship with her bodyguard and driver Ronnie Dayan strengthens the disbarment case against her at the Supreme Court.

Aguirre explains, De Lima committed gross immorality when she got involved with a married man and her license as a lawyer should be revoked.

The Justice Secretary also notes, De Lima’s confession also raises the credibility of the reports and testimonies that Dayan acted as her go-between as she allegedly collected drug money from high-profile inmates at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

“Yung probability ng si Dayan ay isa sa mga bagman at taga-kulekta nya ng drug money ay napakalaki na (the probability that Dayan was among her bagmen and collector of drug money has increased so much),” Aguirre points out.

During the TV program of Winnie Monsod, De Lima admitted she had a relationship with Dayan for a few years.

The senator cited the “frailties of a woman” as the reason why she got involved with her bodyguard.

She, however, refuted allegations that Dayan had taken money from NBP inmates for use in her senatorial campaign.
