VACC condemns Espinosa’s killing

The group Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) has condemned the killing of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa while in jail.

VACC Founding Chairman Dante Jimenez says, if it is true that he was shot dead because he was resisting the serving of a search warrant by the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), he still wonders why guns were present inside the detention cell.

Jimenez suspects Espinosa was killed to silence him so that he would not be able to reveal all that he knew about the illegal drug trade.

Espinosa was shot dead early Saturday morning while in jail in Baybay City, Leyte.
