Duterte’s cabinet to tackle firecracker ban

The cabinet of President Rodrigo Duterte will discuss on Thursday afternoon the issue on whether or not a firecracker ban will be imposed across the country, especially on New Year’s Eve.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella says, before President Duterte left for his foreign trips in Brunei and China, he had said that he does not want to rule on the matter alone and he wants his cabinet members to talk about it further.

Duterte noted the effect that this order would have on firecracker manufacturers.

Ban on pyrotechnics has been enforced in Davao City since 2002, through an ordinance released by the city council.
