‘Karen’ prompts the cancellation of almost 200 flights

Nearly 200 international and local flights have been cancelled due to Typhoon ‘Karen.’

Meanwhile, almost 4,000 passengers currently are stranded in ports of Southern Quezon, Batangas, Albay, Sorsogon and Catanduanes.

The rains brought by ‘Karen’ are now pouring over Catanduanes and Camarines Sur.

Yellow rainfall warning is also up over Quezon.

Cellular phone signals are down in Catanduanes.

Over 1,000 residents are set to be evacuated to higher grounds in Aurora on Saturday afternoon.

Residents in low-lying areas in Sorsogon, Catanduanes and Camarines Sur are also being fetched by rescue teams.

The National Disaster Risck Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) is now on red alert mode.

It has also placed Metro Manila under Alpha Alert due to the storm.
