Amado Valdez named SSS Chairman

Former University of the East (UE) College of Law Dean Amado Valdez has been appointed Chairman of the Social Security System (SSS).

He took his oath of office on Tuesday in the Palace, along with about 100 other new presidential appointees.

Valdez is said to be among President Rodrigo Duterte's legal counsel during the canvassing of votes for May 2016 elections.

Valdez had also filed a petition at the Supreme Court seeking to disqualify Senator Grace Poe from the 2016 presidential race.

He cited alleged questions on Poe's citizenship as basis for the petition.
