Alvarez open to file bill on same-sex union

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez is willing to file a bill that will seek the legalization of same-sex marriage.

Alvarez says, “anybody can question it. Pagde-debatehan naman yan (debates will be conducted). At the end of the day, pagbobotohan yan (voting will be done).”

He explains, “kailangan din natin ng protektahan sila (we also need to protect them),” referring to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Alvarez adds, “gusto ko lang iparating yung mensahe na ginagalang ko ang karapatan nila (I just want to send the message that I respect their rights).”
