Senate holds hearing on FOI bill

The Senate Committee on Public Information and Mass Media held its first hearing on the Freedom of Information (FOI) bill.

Senator Grace Poe, who chairs the committee, seeks a review into the 166 exemptions identified in President Duterte’s Executive Order that relates to FOI.

Poe wants an FOI Law enacted by next year.

Present in the hearing were heads of some broadcast networks, Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Chairman Herman Basbaño and Atty. Eirene Aguila from the Right to Know! Coalition.
