Number of soldiers killed in Monday’s battles with ASG reaches 15

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has lost 15 soldiers in battles with the Abu Sayyaf bandits in Sulu.

10 other soldiers were injured in the clashes in at least 2 areas on Monday afternoon.  

AFP Western Mindanao Command Filemon Tan said, most of the fatalities belong to the 35th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.

Soldiers in the Army’s 21st Infantry Battalion also fought with the ASG.

The first encounter took place in Barangay Maligay in Patikul while the second firefight occurred in Barangay Kuttong in Talipao.

Fatalities on ASG’s side has yet to be known.
