Pimentel: De Lima’s appearance in House probe on drugs not required

Senate President Koko Pimentel says, Senator Leila de Lima is not required to attend the House investigation on the proliferation of drugs inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

Pimentel explains, this is due to the inter-parliamentary courtesy that the House of Representative and the Senate observe.

The senate leader says, House members can send invitation to De Lima but she cannot be compelled to show up in the hearing.

As for the request of the Liberal Party for the Senate leadership to back De Lima in her feud with President Duterte, Pimentel says, De Lima herself told him that she does not need it.

Pimentel says, De Lima can very well defend herself.
