10 inmates die in Parañaque City Jail blast

10 inmates were killed in a grenade explosion inside the warden’s office of Parañaque City Jail on Thursday night.

Among those who died were two Chinese.

Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) says, some of the fatalities had charges relating to illegal drugs, robbery with homicide and robbery with illegal possession of firearms.

It also says, the city jail has many high-profile inmates.

The inmates were reportedly in the office of Jail Warden Gerald Bantag and they were talking with him about an information that they were going to be transferred to other detention cells.

Bantag was brought to the hospital and he may be operated on after he sustained injuries on his face and legs.

BJMP has yet to determine what caused the explosion as it awaits the final report on the incident.
