Road rage suspect to be turned over to MPD

The suspect in the killing of a cyclist in Quiapo following a heated traffic argument on Monday night was arrested in Masbate on Friday.

Philippine Army chief Lt. Gen. Eduardo Año told reporters that suspect Vhon Martin Tanto was nabbed at 11:40 a.m. in East Milagros by the combined elements of the Army's Intelligence and Security Group, 9th Infantry Division and the local police. 

The Army had earlier stated it would help track down Tanto, a former  Philippine Army Reservist, who was assigned with the 1301st Community Defense Center, National Capital Regional Community Defense Group of the Army Reserve Command based in Caloocan City.

Information from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said, Tanto was arrested in Barangay Poblacion, Milagros, Masbate.

Tanto is no longer an Army reservist because he has not been attending any of the meetings or events for reservists since January 2015.

He is set to be brought to the 9th IB headquarters in Milagros, Masbate before being turned over to the Manila Police District.

Tanto, 39, is the suspect in the killing of bicycle rider Mark Vincent Garalde in a case of road rage along P. Casal Street, Quiapo on Monday night.
