Koko Pimentel elected senate president

Senator Koko Pimentel has been elected Senate President.

20 senators voted for him at the opening of Senate session for the 17th Congress on Monday morning.

Pimentel's oath was administered by the youngest member of the chamber – Senator Manny Pacquiao.

3 senators voted for Senator Ralph Recto for senate presidency.

Recto will now automatically serve as Senate Minority Leader, following Senate Rules.

In his speech, Pimentel said, change must also start in the Senate.

He also said although he was not able to work in the Senate at the same time with his father, Former Senator Aquilino ‘Nene’ Pimentel, he is nevertheless glad to be in the same list of lawmakers serving the country.
