First Gen Corp., the country’s clean energy leader, announced Tuesday the completion of repair works on Unit 2 of the 97-megawatt Avion natural gas power plant in Batangas City.

First Gen said in a disclosure to the stock exchange it was advised by subsidiary Prime Meridian Powergen Corp. that the restoration works on Unit 2 of Avion plant were completed by GE, the original equipment manufacturer.

“Recommissioning and testing activities, which are necessary to determine whether the unit can be declared ready to return to commercial operations, have commenced,” the company said.

The Avion Power Plant is owned by PMPC and located within the First Gen Clean Energy Complex in Batangas City. On Aug. 31, PMPC informed First Gen that the compressor of one of two gas turbines that comprise the Avion power plant was damaged. The plant features two units that utilize GE LM6000 PC dual fuel aero-derivative gas turbines/generators, making it the first power plant in the Philippines to run on aircraft engines for land-based power generation application.
