In the recent virtual media conference for GMA’s latest primetime offering To Have and to Hold, Max Collins revealed that she is meticulously prepared for her role.
“That’s true!” she said. “I can say that I’ve kind of over-prepared for the character of Dominique. It’s the first time that I did that. I embraced every part of her, both the good and the bad.”
The award-winning actress is excited about the fact that the role is something new for her.
“She’s very different from me! Dominique is a successful interior designer who is smart, has a high sense of worth, and doesn’t like being taken for granted. Her story is very far from mine in real life. But that’s the beauty of being an actress. Basically, you get to play different types of people.”
Interestingly, what are the good traits that she got from Dominique?
“Well, for one, the confidence, the way she dresses. I love that! She’s very different, yes. She’s lovable in some ways and you won’t also like her in some ways—just like me. I’m not a perfect individual.
“Dominique is brave and confident. But she has flaws, too, and is trying to find herself. I can relate to her in those aspects. I guess, those are the commonalities and differences between me and Dominique.”
In this soap, Max is in the company of equally good and seasoned performers like Carla Abellana, Rocco Nacino, Ina Feleo, Roi Vinzon, Gilleth Sandico, Bing Pimentel, and Valeen Montenegro. Can she say that it really challenged her as an actress?
“I believe so! As I’ve mentioned earlier, this is the first project that I really worked so hard on. It’s because I want to prove myself further in my craft. Especially that I’m already a mother.
“I see things from a different perspective now. In the future, I want my son to be proud of my body of work (Max has a child with husband Pancho Magno named Skye who just turned one year old)! I guess that gives me more of a drive—to prove myself and do better.”
The lovely Kapuso hopes that her efforts will be noticed.
“I really dug deep emotionally to portray Dominique. It’s definitely one role I’m proud of. I wish the viewers will like my performance here,” ended Max.
