A recent Sony PlayStation Showcase 2021 revealed a lineup of 16 games for the PS5 console, with some slated for release in the coming months and years.

God of War Ragnarök

The 42-minute showcase garnered more than 3.6-million views worldwide on YouTube, while the Twitch stream has over 450K views. The showcase, according to Sony, “included updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond.”

One of the major titles to be unveiled in Sony’s event was God of War Ragnarök by Sony Santa Monica Studios. God of War Ragnarök continues the story of Kratos and his son Atreus as they initiate the “Ragnarok” or end of days of the Norse gods as the final act of the Norse saga of the series. The game was originally scheduled to be released this 2021 but was delayed due to the pandemic.

Insomniac Games has two games featured in the showcase, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (sequel for Spider-Man in 2018), and Wolverine. Eyeing a 2023 release date, Spider-Man 2 will feature protagonist Peter Parker and Miles Morales — a character from the Spider-Man 2020 expansion – against Venom. The Wolverine title, on the other hand, was announced to be in “early development” at the time of the teaser’s reveal.

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V (GTAV) dropped a new trailer for the game’s re-release for the PlayStation 5 platform and also featured a brief snapshot of another GTA iteration – GTA Online. Although released last 2013 and 2014 for 3rd and 4th-gen consoles respectively, GTAV’s supposed 2021 release was delayed and is now slated for March 2022.

Square Enix’s Forspoken, which is a fantasy game currently being developed by Luminous Productions, will be coming to PC and PS5 in spring 2022. The game features a new story with protagonist Frey Holland.

Rainbows Six Extraction developed by Tom Clancy is set to be released in January 2022. The story continues where Team Rainbow faces a lethal mutating alien threat called the Archaeans who have taken over several regions in the United States.

Naughty Dog’s remastered bundle of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy will be coming to PS5 and PC in early 2022.

There are also game releases slated for later this year, such as Deathloop on Sept. 14; Alan Wake Remastered on Oct. 5; Guardians of the Galaxy on Oct. 26; and Kid Amnesia Exhibition and Blood Hunt in November.

Other games like  Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake, Project Eve, Gran Turismo 7, and Tchia have their trailers shown but have not yet released a confirmed date for their arrival on PS5.
