Have you met Ms. Kindness?

We all have that one person we can never forget. Maybe, it is your first love. Your first heartbreak. Your first teacher. Or even your first boss. Whoever that person is, they left a mark in your heart.

Mine is not a CEO nor someone who is holding a significant position in a company. She is someone who has shown light through her kindness. She serves with utmost generosity that you will never feel that it is only for show. It is who she is. Her heart to serve shows how she works with her hands. Her kindness can make you feel so good that you want to share it with others as well. I wonder how someone can serve and show kindness at the same time?

We live in a world where kindness is a rare commodity. Anyone can serve, but not everyone is kind enough to serve. It is easy to serve in the corporate world in exchange for money and other benefits. To show kindness is another thing. It can never be paid with money, but its ripple effect is priceless and life-changing.

I remember it was several years ago when I met Ms. Kindness. We were both on a mission at that time, and we were partnered to serve a local community. It was never a grandiose gesture of hers that made me realize how kind she was. It was in her little ways.

“Here’s a biscuit. I know you’re hungry.”

“I’ll help you set up your beddings.”

“Let’s pray for one another.”

Even when she was trying to correct me, she never made me feel that I was so wrong.

“How about you try changing your plan? Your plan A did not work out, but plan B to Z can.”

I thought that this mission would just teach me how I can use my life to serve others. But, Ms. Kindness showed me how service and compassion could make a difference. It made a difference in my life. It inspired me to serve with generosity. We were never paid for with the service we gave, but my outlook on life has changed since then. Thanks to that one person who was courageous enough to serve with kindness. To serve with no hidden agenda. To serve with her whole heart.

You do not need to be a CEO or have a position in a company to show that you care. You can serve right where you are. We all can serve inside our homes, communities and companies. This pandemic calls for compassion. Just one act of generosity can impact several lives. This world is aching for another Ms. Kindness. Are you ready to become one?
